One Way to Frame The (New) Year

While it's common to practice goal setting to jumpstart a new year, sometimes this task can feel too daunting to complete. My birthday is in early January, and during a celebratory dinner, I asked everyone to share a "need" for the year. I wanted to pose a less 'goal-oriented' question, aiming to hear something more real, raw and tangible. I pose the same question to you: in order to thrive in 2025, what do you need?

My answer? Inspiration. This year, I need beauty, creative outlets, and all those seemingly frivolous things, especially in the trenches of young kids, to motivate, energize and replenish me. (Hence why I'm writing a blog post after the kids' bedtimes.)

More than meeting basic needs this year, what would be one sign that you're thriving?
If your year has weekly physical movement?
If you finally have boundaries with a loved one (no matter how small)?
Grasp onto the dream you have growing within you

Luckily, work, my newsletters, and all things mental health & wellness feel like an inspiring and creative outlet much of the time, so I'm excited to be back in the office. When I'm not working, you'll find me sewing, looking for birds with my kids, baking, or researching a ways to improve my garden.

Will you consider what you personally need to thrive in 2025? Think of what your entire being needs: body, soul, mind and spirit. The simpler the word or concept the better, and bonus points if you can come up with 3-5 actions that will accompany this desire! (Triple extra credit if you let me know what the word or phrase is!)

I hope you find all that you need in 2025, and that even in your searching, you find joy and purpose.
